Let’s Get A Barrel, Greg

This piece emerged in my studio after a series of loose, abstract paintings, and it ended up becoming something completely different from my usual style-which is exactly what makes it so unique. It’s inspired by Australia’s longboarding culture, something I’ve always loved being part of myself. There’s a touch of ’80s nostalgia woven through it, from the men in short shorts to the quirky hats. I also chose to paint a fluoro-pink longboard because, to me, longboarding carries a more relaxed, playful energy than shortboarding, and I wanted that sense of fun to shine through in the work.
